Camp physicals are pre-participation examinations required prior to attending the program. They ensure that the camper is healthy and physically cleared to attend. The history and physical examination aims to identify and reduce risks of potential injury that may occur during camp.
The Department of Transportation (DOT) requires physicals to be performed by a certified, approved and licensed medical examiner to comply with federal regulations. Learn more here.

Determine if you snore or stop breathing at night. Sleep apnea is a serious sleep disorder that can cause headaches, fatigue, and various cardiovascular and metabolic adverse effects. We will order a home sleep study (HST) and CPAP for home use if you qualify.
Sleep apnea (also called obstructive sleep apnea or OSA) is a serious sleep disorder in which a person slows down or stops breathing intermittently during sleep. The airway repetitively becomes blocked. This disorder may be dangerous because the individual may not be aware of the lack of breathing and oxygenation.
Symptoms of sleep apnea include loud snoring, recurrent headaches, dry mouth, insomnia, daytime sleepiness, concentration difficulties and more. If you feel more than just tired after sleeping or snore loudly, you might have sleep apnea.
Risk factors for sleep apnea include being overweight, family history of sleep apnea, thicker neck circumference, smoking, being 40 years of age and over, use of alcohol or sedatives, and certain medical conditions including high blood pressure and diabetes.
Complications from sleep apnea include increased the risk for stroke, heart attack, high blood pressure, metabolic syndromes and type II diabetes from insulin resistance.
LifeLine Walk In Medical & Mental Health Nursing Clinic can evaluate patients for signs of and assist with diagnosis of sleep apnea. The clinician will discuss your results with you and order a home sleep test (HST) if you qualify. The HST is an economical and convenient method of diagnosing moderate to severe sleep apnea from the coziness of your own bed.
The data from the HST is collected, analyzed by a sleep medicine physician. If you are diagnosed with OSA we will assist with obtaining a Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machine for ongoing home use.
